The Statistical, Economic, Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Cooperation (SESRIC) participated in the OIC Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) Project Funding Training Programme 2016 in Ankara, Turkey on 29-30 March 2016. The Centre was represented by Ms. Nenden Octavarulia Shanty, Researcher at Statistics and Information Department. The training was attended by the delegates from Gambia, Malaysia, Palestine, Turkey, and Uganda. Representatives of Development Bank of Turkey and Department of International Programs and Projects of Ministry of Development of Turkey also participated in the meeting.

In the session titled “Presentations of the Projects”, Ms. Shanty shared SESRIC’s project on “Developing Islamic Financial Industry Database of OIC Countries” which is among the successful final projects selected for the Project Cycle Management (PCM) Programme of the COMCEC for the 2016 implementation period. The objective of the project is to develop standardized indicators and methodology of Islamic financial industry database including the templates for data collection and to collaborate with domestic and international stakeholders to collect, compile, perform quality assurance and disseminate data on Islamic financial industry. The other projects were also presented by the delegates from Gambia, Malaysia, Palestine, Turkey, and Uganda within the COMCEC Cooperation Areas of Finance, Tourism, Agriculture, and Trade.
