Project purpose:

The project aimed to bring together participants from the Ministries of Transport and relevant national transport authorities of OIC Member Countries responsible for transport financing. It provided a platform to exchange knowledge and explore cooperation opportunities in transport financing to support the maintenance of transport infrastructure and services, particularly in the post-pandemic recovery period. The first out of three activities was an online training course which gave insight into the theoretical aspects of transport financing to maintain transport infrastructure and the services of TSPs. The workshop, held on-site, enhanced participants’ understanding of innovative transport financing by presenting best practices, assessing benefits and risks across transport modes, identifying key conditions for successful implementation, and formulating recommendations tailored to the diverse needs of OIC Member Countries. As a consecutive activity of the workshop, a field visit to two successful project sites, namely the Eurasia Tunnel and Istanbul İGA Airport, was conducted to facilitate hands-on learning and showcase innovative solutions and approaches in the field.
