SESRIC participated in the “Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) Young Climate Volunteers Camp 2026,” co-organised by ICYF and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye. The Camp was held in Istanbul, from 3–15 April 2026 under the theme “Empowering Youth for Climate Action to Build Climate-Resilient Communities.” Dr. Moynul AHSAN and Mr. Muzamil EDEMA, researchers at the Economic and Social Research Department, represented SESRIC thereat.

The Camp aimed to equip young people with practical skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience to better anticipate, prepare for, and respond to the impacts of climate change. It also sought to translate global climate challenges into meaningful local action while nurturing a new generation of youth leaders committed to protecting societal well-being through project-based learning.

The event commenced with opening remarks from representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye, the OIC General Secretariat, ICYF, Cemre Vakfı, and SESRIC. The Camp was organised in two phases; 3–8 April for young males and 10–15 April for young females. It brought together 57 participants from 30 OIC Member Countries and one Observer State, including representatives of youth organisations, students, and delegates from implementing and partner institutions.

During the Camp, SESRIC delivered a presentation on “Climate Change in OIC Member Countries” and led an interactive workshop titled “Mapping the Impacts of Climate Change.” Participants also prepared and presented country-based projects. In addition to the training sessions, the Camp featured a variety of activities, including sports and cultural nights, where participants shared insights into the cultural heritage of their respective countries. The programme concluded with a certificate ceremony for participants who successfully completed the Camp.
