SESRIC has been awarded with a plaque of gratitude at the 14th International Business Forum as an appreciation for its efforts and contributions to the organisation of the Congress on “The Importance of Technology for Development in Islamic Countries”.

Dr. Savaş Alpay, Director General of SESRIC, addressed a number of distinguished bureaucrats, chairmen of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), academicians, businessmen and press members at the 14th International Business Forum (IBF) Congress where he briefed the participants on the theme “Research and Scientific Development in OIC Member Countries” underlining the significant role nanotechnology plays and would play in all the areas pertaining to health, environment, science and technology.

The 14th International Business Forum Congress was held in Istanbul, Turkey during the period 6-9 October 2010 under the patronage of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, and was honoured with H.E. Abdullah Gül, President of Turkey and Chairman of the COMCEC. The Forum was attended by a number of distinguished presidents, bureaucrats, chairmen of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO), academicians, businessmen and press members from all over the world, also present were35 Ministers of Trade and Industry from OIC Member Countries and representatives of nearly 600 business companies from 65 countries.

Another plaque ceremony also took place at the IBF where the participants of the pilot project of the OIC International Students Exchange Programme (OIC-ISIP) were awarded a plaque of gratitude by H.E. Abdullah Gül.

Organised every year by the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD) since 1995, the International Business Forum (IBF) is a voluntarily-based, non-governmental platform with the motto of "Global Business Network among Muslim Nations" with an aim to gather Muslim business people from all over the globe where they try to share trade, investment and co-operation. The IBF is also an official forum of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (COMCEC).
