Training Course on ‘Community Outreach through Social Media for National Statistics Offices’ in Gabon

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Training Course on ‘Community Outreach through Social Media for National Statistics Offices’ at General Directorate of Statistics and Economic Studies (DGSEE) of Gabonese Republic on 13–14 March 2017.

The Training Course was conducted by Mr. Tanontchi Henri ABOU, Head of Governance Statistics of National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, with the participation of 22 officials of the DGSEE.

The Training Course on ‘Community Outreach through Social Media for National Statistics Offices’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

    • Definition of Social Media
    • Types of Social Media
    • Interest in Their Use
    • Message Preparation
    • Evaluation of Messages
  • Use of Statistical Products through Social Media
    • Product Selection
    • Media Selection
    • Limitation of the Use of Social Media
