Statistics Course on ‘Examination of International Education Reports and Monitoring of Educational Indicators’ in Turkey

In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Statistics Course on ‘Examination of International Education Reports and Monitoring of Educational Indicators’’ at the Turkish Maarif Foundation (TMF) in Istanbul on 06 August 2018. The statistics course was organized as a part of the ‘Specialist Assistant Training Programme’ of the TMF being held between 21 May and 8 October of 2018. The Statistics Course was conducted by Mr. Davron ISHNAZAROV of the Statistics and Information Department of SESRIC.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. I - October 2009), education statistics includes educational participation, illiteracy, educational institutions and systems, human and financial resources invested in education, lifelong learning, vocational training and adult learning, impact of education, and assessments of student performance.

The statistics course on ‘Examination of International Education Reports and Monitoring of Educational Indicators’ included interactive discussion sessions with a focus on the following:

  • SESRIC Report on ‘Education and Scientific Development in OIC Countries 2016’
  • SESRIC OIC Statistics Database (OICStat)
  • UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) Database
  • Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report for the years 2015, 2016 and 2017/2018
  • Global Partnership for Education Results Report 2018
  • The International Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunity Report 2016
  • The World Bank’s World Development Report 2018
