Training Course on ‘Anti-Competitive Practices and Promotion of Competition’

Within the framework of its Competition Authorities Capacity Building Programme (CA-CaB), SESRIC organized an online training course on “Anti-Competitive Practices and Promotion of Competition” on 30 March - 01 April 2021 for the benefit of 15 participants from the National Commission for Competition and Consumption (CNCC) of Burkina Faso. The training course was provided by competent experts from the Turkish Competition Authority and Tunisian Competition Council.

The training course gave insights into various competition-related subjects, including:

  • Anti-competitive Agreements and Cartels
  • Exemptions
  • Abuse of Dominant Position
  • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Bid-Rigging
  • Promotion of Competition

By covering the above-mentioned subjects, the training course provided participants a better understanding on the important role of Competition Authorities in regulating and preventing anti-competitive conducts as well as the protection of consumer rights through monitoring, regulating, and supervising the markets.

This training course also served as an opportunity for participants and experts to share their country experiences in this important domain. At the end of the training, participants from the CNCC of Burkina Faso praised SESRIC for rapidly responding to their request and allowing them to strengthen their capacity.

This training course was designed in line with the virtual training solutions undertaken by SESRIC in order to better serve the Centre’s training activities and keep participants motivated and engaged during this difficult time of global crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
