SESRIC participated in the 5^th Meeting of the Subgroup on Gender Statistics Training (SGGST) organised in a virtual format by the UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. The purpose of the meeting was to review and approve the updated Terms of Reference (ToR) of the SGGST, as well as to reach consensus on the 2023 priority activities and draft the work plan.

During the meeting, SESRIC shared its inputs for the updated ToR and informed the members that it has been promoting the Gender Statistics Training Curriculum to the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of OIC member countries for wider usage of the training materials. These materials can benefit trainers who wish to conduct related training, as well as learners and other individuals interested in gender statistics. In addition, SESRIC indicated its readiness to support the work of the SGGST as outlined in the 2023 priority activities and draft work plan.

On 15 November 2018, SESRIC became an official member of the SGGST of the Network for the Coordination of Statistical Training in Asia and the Pacific coordinated by the UN Women (the secretariat of the Subgroup) and the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) (the secretariat of the Network). The main objective of the Subgroup is to ensure data users and producers in Asia and the Pacific have the necessary skills to produce, disseminate and use gender statistics widely, including for SDG monitoring.
