The President of Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), H.E. Dr. Erhan ÇETİNKAYA, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Mrs. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of SESRIC, on 27 April 2023.

Dr. Çetinkaya congratulated Mrs. SELÇUK on her appointment as the new Director General of SESRIC, exchanged ways and means of enhancing the longstanding collaboration between TurkStat and SESRIC, focusing on areas of mutual interest and shared objectives.

On her part, H.E. Mrs. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of SESRIC, appreciated the continued support of TurkStat in the fields of statistical capacity building activities of the Centre. Mrs. SELÇUK provided an overview of the contributions of TurkStat to the activities conducted under the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom) and SESRIC Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The Director General of SESRIC also briefed Dr. ÇETİNKAYA about the data products of the Centre, including the OIC Statistics (OICStat) Database, the first and only international statistics repository on the OIC countries.

Mrs. SELÇUK also congratulated Dr. ÇETİNKAYA on the observation of Turkish Statistics Day on 25 April 2023 to celebrate the 97^th anniversary of the establishment of TurkStat in 1926. The courtesy visit ended with a shared commitment to further increase the collaboration between SESRIC and TurkStat for the benefit of the OIC countries.
