SESRIC and IOFS Signed an MoU to Strengthen Cooperation and Partnership

SESRIC and the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate and strengthen cooperation between both institutions in areas of food security, agriculture, and rural development.

The MoU was signed by H.E. Mrs. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of SESRIC, and H.E. Prof. Yerlan A. BAIDAULET, Director General of IOFS, on 24 May 2023 at SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara, Türkiye.

The MoU provides a framework of cooperation that aims to facilitate collaboration between the two institutions in areas of common interest towards achieving their common objectives and carrying out joint initiatives.

A 3-year Joint Action Plan was also signed within the scope of the MoU in order to promote systematic cooperation between SESRIC and IOFS and to identify joint activities on food security and agriculture to be conducted for the benefit of OIC Member Countries under specific areas of cooperation.

The IOFS, a specialized institution of the OIC, was established by virtue of the relevant resolution of the 40th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (10-11 December 2013, Conakry, Republic of Guinea) to be responsible for activities in the field of food security, sustainable agriculture and rural development, headquartered in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan.
