SESRIC attended the 8^th World Investment Forum (WIF8) organised by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on 16-20 October 2023.

Holding bilateral talks and discussions with several stakeholders, H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK addressed the Session on ‘Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Statistics in OIC Countries’ organised in collaboration with UNCTAD on 16 October 2023 highlighting the importance of quality FDI data and the need for collaboration among the national stakeholders. In her remarks, H.E. SELÇUK also shared with the audience about the current efforts of the Centre in this regard as well as reiterated the readiness of SESRIC to improve further the human and institutional capacities of the OIC countries in the field of FDI statistics by means of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) and Central Banks Capacity Building (CB-CaB) Programmes.

In addition, Dr. Atilla KARAMAN, Director of Statistics and Information Department of SESRIC addressed the Symposium on “FDI Statistics” organised by UNCTAD as one of the lead speakers about the importance of quality investment data within the perspectives of the OIC and its member countries and the outcomes of the SESRIC-UNCTAD Joint Session on 16 October 2023.

The five-day event in Abu Dhabi brought together heads of state and government, ministers, executives of global companies and stock exchanges, sovereign wealth fund managers, investment treaty negotiators, heads of investment promotion agencies and special economic zones, investment location experts, heads of international organizations, members of parliament, civil society representatives, and eminent scholars. Nearly 8,000 participants attended the Forum.
