SESRIC hosted the Workshop on “Supporting Evidence-Based Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Reporting: Data and Statistics Innovations” in collaboration with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) at SESRIC Headquarters on 6-7 December 2023 in Ankara, Republic of Türkiye. 18 experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of selected 6 OIC and other VNR reporting countries participated in the Workshop.

The objective of this workshop was to bring together representatives from selected NSOs engaged in working on SDG reporting and the VNR process to discuss available tools and resources for data innovation, develop a data roadmap for the VNR and share best practices for developing an evidence-based VNR and SDG reporting.

The Workshop aimed to brief participants on usage of VNR as tool and share best practices among the reporting countries in using VNR. The Workshop covered the following topics:

• Data Roadmap for developing VNRs and SDG reporting
• Data innovations and non-traditional data sources for VNRs and SDG reporting
• Tools for ‘leaving no one behind’
• How to use and present data in SDG reporting and VNRs (data storytelling and visualization)
