Within the framework of itsStatistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC, in collaboration with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), and the United Nations Statistical Division (UNSD), will organise an online Workshop on “Business Demography and Entrepreneurship Statistics” on 16-17 July 2024.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) will lead technical sessions, complemented by contributions from other NSOs of OIC countries. These sessions will offer insights through case studies and presentations on country-specific experiences.

The workshop will delve into the following key topics:

• Introduction to Business Demography, Dynamics and Entrepreneurial Activities
• Use of Statistical Business Registers for Business Demography and Entrepreneurship Statistics
• Business Demography Methodology
• Entrepreneurship Statistics: Measuring Determinants, Performance, and Impact
• Entrepreneurship Indicators: Experience of TurkStat on Entrepreneurship Statistics

The StatCaB Programme was initiated in early 2007 as the flagship capacity development programme of SESRIC. Within the framework of the StatCaB Programme, the Centre collects information from the NSOs of OIC member countries through the biennial StatCaB Questionnaire, assesses their statistical training needs and capacities, matches these needs and capacities, and organises statistical capacity development activities between the beneficiary and provider countries.
