H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of SESRIC, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Dr. Laila bint AHMED AL NAJJAR, Minister of Social Development of Oman. The meeting took place on 15 March 2024, on the sidelines of the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), held at UN Headquarters in New York.

The meeting set the stage for exploring partnership opportunities between SESRIC and Oman to advance the empowerment of women, with a particular focus on women in leadership and other relevant fields.

The two officials engaged in important discussions, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting positive change in the status of women in their respective spheres of influence.

During the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK emphasized SESRIC's efforts to continue fostering socio-economic development across OIC countries through research, statistics and capacity-building programmes. She underscored the importance of contributing to an enabling environment for women to assume leadership roles, thereby harnessing their full potential as catalysts for sustainable development.

In response, H.E. Dr. Laila bint AHMED AL NAJJAR expressed Oman's keen interest in building partnerships to bolster women's participation in decision-making processes and enhance their socio-economic standing. She praised SESRIC's proactive approach in leveraging research and capacity-building initiatives to address the multifaceted challenges confronting women in the member countries.
