H.E. Amb. Isiaka A. IMAM, Secretary General of the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8), paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK at the Centre's Headquarters in Ankara. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for joint initiatives and fostering collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in the fields of research and joint events within the framework of South-South Cooperation.

During the visit, both sides emphasized their commitment to strengthening socio-economic development efforts in their common member countries through partnerships aimed at sustainable development. Discussions centered on addressing common challenges and advancing mutual goals in line with the priorities of their relevant fora.

H.E. SELÇUK thanked H.E. Amb. IMAM for his kind visit and underlined that SESRIC places a strong emphasis on advancing technical cooperation with national, regional, and international partners through South-South and Triangular Cooperation mechanisms. Within this vein, SESRIC has successfully organized around 900 activities since the initiation of the relevant capacity development programmes of SESRIC. These programs have significantly benefited OIC Member Countries, including those of the D-8.

In turn, H.E. Amb. IMAM stated that the D-8 member countries have always been active participants in SESRIC’s capacity-building activities, with remarkable contributions to their development efforts. He also added that one area of cooperation with SESRIC could be the implementation of new projects or organization of joint events, based on SESRIC’s extensive experience in statistics, research, and training and technical cooperation.

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of cooperation and joint initiatives in promoting sustainable development in their common member countries.
