Training Course on ‘Adopting Pertinent Strategies for Upskilling and Reskilling TVET Trainers’

Within the framework of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the Member Countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET) and in line with the OIC-TVET Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025, SESRIC, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye and the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) successfully organised a Training Course on “Adopting Pertinent Strategies for Upskilling and Reskilling TVET Trainers” on 23-24 October 2024.

The training course aimed to provide a deeper knowledge of the critical need for effective techniques and strategies to upskill and reskill TVET trainers. It also highlighted the successful initiatives by the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye to advance the capabilities of TVET trainers. Participants gained valuable insights into effective approaches for developing the capacity of TVET trainers that align with labour market demands, contributing to the overall improvements in vocational education systems.

A total of 66 experts and executives from TVET institutions across 22 OIC countries benefitted from the activity, engaging in discussions that highlighted the challenges, opportunities, and contemporary trends in upskilling and reskilling initiatives. The course provided valuable insights, best practices, and practical tools for implementing effective training strategies.

The training course covered the following key topics:

  • Teacher Training in Vocational and Technical Education;
  • Best Practices in Vocational and Technical Education;
  • Capacity Building of TVET Professionals: Needs and Strategies for Upskilling and Reskilling TVET Trainers;
  • Empowering TVET Trainers with Generative AI: Strategies for Continuous Professional Development; and
  • Contextualising Teaching and Learning Frameworks for TVET Trainers: Integrating Subject-Specific Didactics (Fachdidaktik) to Bridge Theory, Practice, and Industry Needs for advancing skills.
