Training Course on ‘Disease Control, Pesticides, Spray Pumps and Fertilizers in Cotton’
Date: 30-31 October 2024
Venue: Virtual-SESRIC, Ankara - Türkiye

Within the framework of its Cotton Capacity Building Programme (Cotton-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Nazilli Cotton Research Institute (CRI) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye, will organise a Training Course on "Disease Control, Pesticides, Spray Pumps and Fertilizers in Cotton" on 30-31 October 2024 through an online video conferencing platform.

The training aims to strengthen the capacities and knowledge of cotton experts in OIC countries by providing insights into cotton disease causes, pesticide and weed management, with the effective use of spray pumps and fertilizers in cotton. Additionally, the training will address cotton-related challenges, such as low yields, disease outbreaks, and environmental concerns, to overcome the technical knowledge gaps in cotton productivity.

The Training Course will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to cotton disease diagnosis and control methods;
  • Overview of pesticide use and effects in cotton;
  • Importance of cotton weeds and control methods;
  • Plant growth regulators and defoliant applications in cotton agriculture.

The Cotton Capacity Building Programme (Cotton-CaB) was developed by SESRIC in 2006 within the framework of the implementation of the OIC 5-year Action Plan on Cotton to organise short- and long-term training courses in close collaboration with the Centres of Excellence specialized in cotton research and training in OIC Countries.
