SESRIC and Diplomacy Academy of Türkiye Strengthen Cooperation for Capacity Building

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Prof. Dr. Mesut ÖZCAN, Director of the Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, to reinforce collaboration in areas of shared goals, with a specific focus on capacity-building programmes.

During the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK underlined SESRIC's ongoing Diplomacy Capacity Building Programme (Diplomacy-CaB), which aims to enhance the skills of diplomats from OIC member countries. Since its inception in 2017, the Diplomacy-CaB programme has organized a total of 8 activities, benefiting 423 diplomats. These activities, comprising training courses and workshops, are tailored to the evolving needs of the diplomatic community within the OIC, she added.

On his part, H.E. Prof. Dr. ÖZCAN highlighted that the Diplomacy Academy has partnered with SESRIC with a focus on capacity building. Notably, SESRIC, in collaboration with the Academy and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), organized a Junior Diplomats Programme on “Humanitarian Diplomacy” benefiting young diplomats from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of OIC member countries. Previous joint activities also included training courses on “Cultural Diplomacy” in 2021, “Digital Diplomacy” in 2020, and “Conflict Resolution and Mediation” in 2019.

The meeting concluded with both H.E. SELÇUK and H.E. ÖZCAN reaffirming their shared commitment to working closely to further advance the diplomatic skills of OIC countries, fostering deeper international collaboration and understanding.
