SESRIC Hosts Delegation of Gambian Diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad

SESRIC hosted a delegation of Gambian diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, accompanied by a representative from the Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Türkiye, at its Headquarters in Ankara.

The visit commenced with a comprehensive presentation delivered by Dr. Atilla KARAMAN, Director of Training and Technical Cooperation Department at SESRIC on the history, structure, and mission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, providing valuable insights into the OIC’s Charter of fostering cooperation among its member states. Furthermore, the delegation received information on SESRIC’s core activities, focusing on its three mandated areas of work: statistics, research, and training & technical cooperation. In particular, the discussions underscored the contribution of SESRIC initiatives to the development efforts of the member countries.

The visit was part of a training programme organised by the Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye for the Gambian Diplomats. The visit facilitated the exchange of ideas and emphasised the importance of building stronger ties with the Gambian institutions. In conclusion, SESRIC reaffirmed its readiness to continue supporting the Gambia through targeted programmes that promote capacity development, knowledge sharing, and technical assistance.
