SESRIC and the Women Development Organization (WDO) Sign MoU to Enhance Collaboration on Women Empowerment

SESRIC and the Women Development Organization (WDO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their ongoing cooperation in areas related to women empowerment. The ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 8th Annual Coordination Meeting of OIC Institutions (ACMOI) held in Jeddah.

H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK and H.E. Dr. Afnan ALSHUAIBY, Executive Director of WDO, signed the MoU on 5 December 2024, which aims to aims to enhance the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and expertise, fostering women’s participation in socio-economic and cultural spheres in line with the OIC Plan of Action for the Advancement of Women (OPAAW). This partnership focuses on cooperation concerning women’s empowerment and addressing the capacity-building needs of OIC countries through South-South and Triangular Cooperation approaches.

The WDO is one of the specialized institutions of the OIC. Its activities were initiated with the inauguration of its Headquarters (HQ) in Cairo in 2021. The WDO has a quadruple mandate encompassing normative support and policy work, advocacy and outreach, coordination, and operational activities. Under its membership, it currently has 19 member countries.
