Workshop on 'Exploring the Water-Energy-Food Security Nexus for Sustainable Development in OIC Countries'

Within the framework of Water Resources Management Capacity Building Programme (Water-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), organised a workshop on "Exploring the Water-Energy-Food Security Nexus for Sustainable Development in OIC Countries" on 3 March 2025, through an online video conferencing platform.

The workshop brought together 100 participants from 23 OIC countries and aimed to enhance the participants’ understanding of the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) nexus framework through various presentations delivered by competent experts and geared towards exploring opportunities for strengthening policy integration and coordination across these sectors. The workshop facilitated knowledge exchange on pertinent strategies for integrated resource management and collaborative solutions for sustainable development of the membercountries.

This workshop covered the following topics:

  • Embracing Regenerative Agriculture: A Path to Food Security for Improving Ecosystems and Enhancing Resilience
  • Best Practices and Innovative Solutions in The WEFE Nexus
  • Nexus Intervention for Water and Agriculture Resilience Future
  • The Future of Food Water Energy Nexus: Challenges and Opportunities
