SESRIC and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA) Held a Technical Meeting to Discuss Collaboration

SESRIC held a technical meeting with representatives from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA) on 28 April 2025, as a follow up to the bilateral meeting held between H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK and H.E. Navid HANIF, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development at UNDESA, which took place in New York on 13 March 2025.

During the meeting, representatives of both institutions explored potential areas of collaboration with particular emphasis on matters related to sustainable development and social inclusion. The discussions emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and the sharing of good practices among the OIC countries as a crucial South-South Cooperation mechanism.

The meeting also explored the Centre’s potential contributions to the upcoming 2nd World Social Summit to be held in Doha, Qatar in November 2025.

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA) is part of the United Nations Secretariat and is responsible for the follow-up to major United Nations Summits and Conferences, as well as services to the United Nations Economic and Social Council and the Second and Third Committees of the United Nations General Assembly. UN-DESA assists countries around the world in agenda-setting and decision-making with the goal of meeting their economic, social and environmental challenges.
