Date: 26-28 May 2025
Venue: Rabat - Morocco

SESRIC participated in the Workshop on “Water Use Management for Agriculture in OIC Member States,” held at the Headquarters of ICESCO in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, on 26-28 May 2025.

The event was co-organised by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), and the Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM).

Bringing together high-level representatives of OIC institutions, relevant national authorities, and international experts, the Workshop served as a platform to exchange experiences and best practices on agricultural water use, policy development, and sustainable water resource management in the OIC region.

During the event, SESRIC delivered a keynote presentation titled “Overview of Water Scarcity in OIC Member States,” which highlighted the current status of water availability in OIC countries, infrastructure challenges, governance gaps, and strategic areas for cooperation among OIC countries.

The three-day Workshop featured technical sessions on topics such as water recycling, efficient irrigation technologies, data-driven decision-making, and the role of private sector investment. It also included high-level policy dialogues and presentations from several OIC Member States, covering national strategies and traditional water systems.

The Workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation and a guided visit to the ICESCO Museum on Site.
