SESRIC Hosts Delegation of Diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq

SESRIC hosted a delegation of diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq at its headquarters in Ankara on 8 July 2025.

The visit commenced with a tour-de-table-round and followed by an overview on the history, organisational structure, vision and mission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), delving into its system and crucial role in fostering cooperation among its member countries.

Furthermore, the delegation was provided with an in-depth information about SESRIC’s core activities in contribution to the development of OIC countries under its three mandated areas of statistics, research, and training & technical cooperation. The delegation had an opportunity for discussions, touching upon the importance of data mining and dissemination, socio-economic analysis as well as technical cooperation and partnership on and for capacity enhancement of the OIC countries. The delegation also gained knowledge about SESRIC initiatives contributed to the development across OIC countries, including Iraq, in various socio-economic sectors.

The visit facilitated the exchange of ideas and emphasised the necessity and the added-value of strengthening partnerships between SESRIC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including with other Iraqi national institutions. The visit was part of a training programme organised by the Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye for the Iraqi Diplomats.
