Regional Workshop on ‘International Trade in Goods Statistics’
Date: 22-24 September 2025
Venue: Amman - Jordan

SESRIC, in collaboration with the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and other regional and international partners, will organise a Regional Workshop on “International Trade in Goods Statistics” on 22-24 September 2025, in Amman, Jordan.

The 3-day workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of national statistical offices (NSOs) and customs departments in the OIC countries in compiling and disseminating timely and accurate merchandise trade statistics. The sessions will cover international standards such as the International Merchandise Trade Statistics Manual (IMTS 2010), data sources, methodologies, and estimation techniques, while addressing specific challenges faced by countries with limited trade data systems.

Participants will also benefit from hands-on training and field visits to the Jordanian Department of Statistics and the Department of Customs, offering practical insights into real-world applications of trade data systems.

The workshop is expected to enhance regional cooperation, improve methodological knowledge, and build the technical skills required for better integration of trade statistics into policymaking and SDG monitoring frameworks.
