Date: 04-05 August 2025
Venue: Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia

SESRIC participated in the ASEAN Safety and Health Workers Summit 2025, convened under the theme “Empowering Inclusivity and Sustainability for a Resilient Workforce”. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) of Malaysia on 4–5 August 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Summit gathered over 1,000 participants from ASEAN and OIC countries, along with international experts, OSH researchers, and policymakers. It served as a strategic platform to address emerging workplace safety challenges and explore inclusive and sustainable approaches to fostering safe and healthy working environments across various sectors.

Featuring high-level keynote speeches, interactive panel discussions, technical workshops, and a wide-ranging exhibition highlighting innovative safety solutions and services, the Summit included approximately 20 technical side events. These dynamic engagements facilitated meaningful collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).

SESRIC delivered two presentations during the Asian Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute (AOSHRI) Meeting, namely “SESRIC’s Involvement in OSH for OIC Member Countries” and “SESRIC’s Contributions to Advancing Occupational Safety and Health in OIC Member Countries,” highlighting the Centre’s contributions to advancing OSH across OIC countries.

The presentations emphasized the initiatives of the OIC Occupational Safety and Health Network (OIC-OSHNET), a dedicated platform established to promote closer cooperation among OSH institutions of OIC countries. The importance of the Network in facilitating knowledge sharing, joint initiatives, and the dissemination of best practices was stressed, along with its role in strengthening institutional collaboration and the advancement of regional OSH standards.

The presentations also underscored the significance of enhancing synergies between OIC-OSHNET and ASEAN-OSHNET and promoting engagement with other relevant regional and international stakeholders.
