Statistical Training Course on 'Labour Statistics'

Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised a Training Course on “Labour Statistics” on 25-26 August 2025 in Bakau, The Gambia. The course was attended by 18 participants from the Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBOS).

The training was delivered by Ms. Yosun KATI, Senior Expert from the Labour Force and Living Conditions Department of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). The sessions were highly interactive and included discussions on methodologies, field practices, and international standards. The course covered the following key areas:

  • Turkish Household Labour Force Survey (LFS): purpose, background, concepts, sampling, and definitions
  • Field organisation, implementation of the LFS, and the Harzemli Data Entry Software
  • Data analysis processes and quality control procedures
  • Dissemination tools and seasonal adjustment techniques
  • Implementation of the 19th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) regulations and new methodological approaches

The training course provided participants with practical insights and strengthened their technical capacity to produce and disseminate labour statistics in line with international standards.
