SESRIC Participated in the First Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Agreement on Promotion, Protection, and Guarantee of Investments among OIC Member States
Date: 26-28 October 2025
Venue: Jeddah - Saudi Arabia

A SESRIC delegation participated in the First Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Agreement on Promotion, Protection and Guarantee of Investments among the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held on 26-28 October 2025 at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Convened pursuant to Resolution No. 3/51-LO of the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), the meeting officially launched the process of modernising the 1981 OIC Investment Agreement, with the objective of aligning it with contemporary international investment frameworks and enhancing intra-OIC investment cooperation. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Ambassador Cenk URAZ, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Türkiye to the OIC, following a joint request led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and supported by several OIC Member States.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the Gap Analysis Report on the OIC Investment Agreement, prepared by a team of investment experts engaged by the OIC General Secretariat. The report served as the basis for the discussions and consultations among the Contracting Parties, providing guidance for the upcoming stages of the review process, including the drafting of a revised version of the Agreement.

In this context, SESRIC reaffirmed its efforts to support this important initiative by continuing to provide reliable socio-economic data and evidence-based analyses to assist decision-makers in shaping a modern, balanced, and development-orientated investment framework that promotes responsible and mutually beneficial investment cooperation across the OIC region.
