The 57^th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission will be held in person in New York from 3 to 6 March 2026. As the highest body in the international statistical system, the Commission provides the global forum where international statistical standards are considered and approved. The 57^th Session will include discussions on, inter alia, social and demographic statistics, data governance, AI-readiness, environment and climate change statistics, and well-being measurement, alongside a broad range of other topics on advancing official statistics.

In addition to the formal session, the programme includes high-level events surrounding the Commission, including the special seminar on emerging issues (27 February 2026) focusing on AI-readiness for Official Data and Statistics, and the High-Level Forum on Official Statistics (2 March 2026) focusing on Beyond GDP.

SESRIC, in its capacity as the Secretariat of the OIC Statistical Commission (OICStatCom), will participate in the 57^th Session of the Commission and will organise a side event, namely the Follow-up Meeting of the 14^th Session of the OIC-StatCom. This meeting will provide a platform to review progress on the implementation of the OIC-StatCom resolutions, strengthen coordination among national statistical systems in OIC Member Countries, and support evidence-based policymaking and sustainable development.
