Date: 22 April 2026
Venue: Virtual, Ankara - Türkiye

SESRIC participated in the 25th Meeting of the COMCEC Financial Cooperation Working Group, held on 22 April 2026 under the theme “Potential of Crowdfunding for Economic Development in the OIC Member Countries”. The meeting brought together participants from relevant national institutions of OIC countries and representatives of OIC institutions, as well as international and regional organisations.

The meeting featured sessions on the scope, conceptual framework, and methodology of the research report prepared by Prof. Habib AHMAD, Durham University Business School. Participants also presented preliminary findings from the case country studies. The OIC countries covered in the case studies included Bahrain, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Nigeria, and the United Kingdom was included as a non-OIC country.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for OIC countries to exchange their experiences and perspectives. Representatives from the Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Capital Markets Board (CMB) of Türkiye shared their ongoing efforts and challenges. Additionally, the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) and ETHIS provided insights based on their experiences with crowdfunding, offering a broader perspective to the discussions.

The meeting concluded with a presentation by COMCEC on its Project Support Instruments, which are announced annually under specific thematic areas to support projects in OIC countries and institutions.
