SESRIC participated in the virtual training course titled as “General Concepts and Applications of Islamic Finance: An Introduction for Journalists”, organised by the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) in collaboration with the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI) on 22 April 2026.

The training course was delivered by specialists from the CIBAFI. It brought together staff of the news agencies of the Union, as well as personnel from media institutions affiliated with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The programme introduced general concepts and applications of Islamic Finance. It also addressed the role of Islamic finance in sustainable development processes and in combating certain global concerns such as poverty, climate change, and related challenges. In addition, the training course examined the intersection between Islamic finance and the media, particularly the role of economic journalism in promoting awareness of this field.

The training course contributed to laying the foundation for future advanced training and academic programmes in media and banking, developed jointly by the UNA and CIBAFI.
