Date: 16 June 2026
Venue: Virtual-Putrajaya - Malaysia

SESRIC, as the Executing Organ of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for Member Countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET), participated virtually in the hybrid Seminar on “Women in TVET: Empowering Potential, Shaping the Future” on 16 June 2026. Invited by the long-standing partner, the Ministry of Education of Malaysia, SESRIC contributed to the event with a dedicated presentation titled “SESRIC's Initiatives in Advancing Women's Empowerment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)”. The presentation highlighted the inception, objectives, and implementation modalities of the OIC-VET Programme since its official launch in 2009.

Focusing on the core theme of the seminar, the session analysed the key structural barriers lowering female participation in TVET, such as socio-cultural stereotypes, concentration in traditional lower-wage sectors, and inadequate facilities. To address these challenges, SESRIC representative shared strategic recommendations aligned with the new OIC-TVET Strategic Roadmap 2035, emphasizing the importance of targeted scholarships, comprehensive infrastructure, the promotion of STEM and ICT fields for women, and regional public awareness campaigns. Furthermore, SESRIC representative shed light on the Centre’s ongoing capacity-building programmes, featuring pertinent activities on enhancing youth and women's entrepreneurial skills, improving employability for girls, among many others geared towards modernizing national TVET systems across the OIC region.
