SESRIC Participates in Cairo Water Week, Showcasing Its Activities and Publications on Water, Climate Change and Environment
Date: 25-29 October 2026
Venue: Cairo - Egypt

SESRIC participated in the Ninth Edition of Cairo Water Week (CWW 2026), held in Cairo, Egypt, from 25 to 29 October 2026. The event was organised by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the European Union (EU), under the auspices of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Held under the theme “Water as a Catalyst for Peace, Shared Prosperity, and a Sustainable Planet,” Cairo Water Week 2026 brought together 2,500 participants from 65 countries. The event also featured 138 sessions, 490 international speakers, 118 international and regional organisations, 25 ministers and deputy ministers, 7 high-level events, and 5 competitions.

As part of its participation, SESRIC hosted a stand showcasing its reports, publications and activities aimed at supporting OIC member countries in various areas of socio-economic development, including water resources management, climate change and environmental protection. The stand highlighted the Centre’s work in research, capacity building, and knowledge and experience-sharing among member countries, with particular emphasis on activities related to its Water Resources Management Capacity Building Programme (Water-CaB), launched in 2012, and Environment Capacity Building Programme (Environment-CaB), launched in 2014. These programmes provide platforms for OIC member countries to exchange knowledge, expertise and good practices, while strengthening their institutional and technical capacities in the fields.

The SESRIC stand welcomed high-level visitors from national and international organisations as well as private sector, including ministers of water attending the Cairo Water Week, alongside with former ministers, experts, entrepreneurs, academics and students. The visits to the SESRIC stand provided a valuable opportunity not only to present the Centre’s work and capacity-building programmes in support of OIC member countries, but also to establish contacts with potential partners, build new institutional relationships and explore avenues for future cooperation.

The stand also highlighted SESRIC’s Emerging Talents Capacity Building Programme (SETCAB), launched in 2023, which captured interest from students visiting the exhibition. Designed for students from OIC member countries pursuing their studies in Türkiye, the programme provides an opportunity to introduce the Centre’s initiatives aimed at supporting the development of young talents alongside its broader research and capacity-building activities.

Cairo Water Week (CWW) is a leading annual international platform organised by Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, bringing together policymakers, international organisations, experts and researchers to address global and regional water challenges. Through conferences, technical sessions and exhibitions, it promotes knowledge exchange, innovative practices and international cooperation in sustainable water resources management.
