A SESRIC delegation, headed by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of the Centre, participated in the 42nd Ministerial Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), convened under the Chairmanship of H.E. Cevdet YILMAZ, Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye and Chairman of COMCEC, in Istanbul, Türkiye.
The Session brought together ministers, senior government officials and high-level representatives from the Member and Observer Countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as representatives of OIC institutions and other international organisations. It provided an important platform for exchanging views on key economic and commercial issues facing OIC Member Countries and for advancing collective efforts towards strengthening economic cooperation and integration within the OIC framework.
During the Session, the SESRIC delegation engaged in discussions on matters related to the Centre’s mandate and its contributions to the implementation of the COMCEC Strategy and relevant Ministerial Policy Recommendations. SESRIC’s participation also offered an opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to supporting OIC Member Countries through statistical cooperation, research, knowledge-sharing and capacity-building initiatives aimed at addressing common development challenges.
On the margins of the Session, H.E. SELÇUK also held bilateral meetings with ministers and senior representatives of OIC Member Countries to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation with SESRIC in its areas of mandate, particularly statistics, research and capacity building. These engagements further contributed to fostering institutional partnerships and identifying potential avenues for joint activities and initiatives in support of socioeconomic development across OIC Member Countries.
