Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised an Online Training Course on ‘SDG 1 (No Poverty) Indicators’ with the participation of 12 attendees from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 7 OIC countries on 25-27 May 2021.

Mr. Mohammad KHALAF, Head of Division of Department of Statistics, Quality Management at the Department of Statistics of Jordan conducted the course and covered the following topics:

• Concept and definition of poverty;
• Effect of poverty on life aspects and other SDGs;
• Definitions and calculations of SDG 1 indicators; and
• Interactions between SDG 1 on other SDGs.

The course was conducted through a video conferencing platform by following synchronous learning and instruction approaches designed in line with the virtual training solutions undertaken by SESRIC in order to better serve the Centre’s training activities and keep participants motivated and engaged during this time of global crisis due to COVID-19.
