Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme and upon the official request received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Republic of Indonesia, SESRIC organised a Training Course on ‘Basic Statistics for Diplomats’ with the attendance of 35 participants from the MoFA of Republic of Indonesia on 20-22 March 2023 through an online video conferencing platform.

Mrs. Suzana Abu Bakar, Senior Deputy Director, and Mrs. Fadzilah Aini binti Mustaffa, Assistant Director, from the National Account Statistics Division; Mrs. Syahron Helmy Abdullah Halim, Deputy Director at the Balance of Payments Statistics Division; Mr. Abdul Latif Bin Abd Kadir, Principal Assistant Director at the International Trade Statistics Division; Mrs. Maslina Samsudin, Senior Deputy Director, and Mrs. Pazlina Waty Che Pah, Principal Assistant Director, from the Price, Income and Expenditure Statistics Division; Ms. Rosnah Muhamad Ali, Principal Assistant Director at Malaysian Bureau of Labour Statistics; and Ms. Suhaily Shafie, Principal Assistant Director at Population & Demographic Statistics Division, of the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), conducted the course and covered the following topics:

• Gross Domestic Product (GDP) (Introduction, Compilation of GDP Production and Income Approach, and Tourism Satellite Account);
• Balance of Payment (BoP) (Introduction of Balance of Payment Compilation, Concepts of Foreign Direct Investment and Direct Investment Abroad, and Malaysia’s Balance of Payment at a Glance);
• Trade Statistics (Introduction on Import and Export Statistics Compilation, and  Malaysian Import and Export at Glance);
• Income and Expenditure Statistics (Introduction, Inflation, Household Income and Household Expenditure);
• Labour Statistics (Introduction, Employment and Unemployment and Labour Productivity, and Data Interpretation and Analysis); and
• Population and Housing Census (Malaysian Experience on Population and Housing Census (MyCensus) 2020, and Data Interpretation and Analysis).
