H.E. Mrs. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of SESRIC, Paid a Courtesy Visit to H.E. Mr. Tahir BUDAGOV, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan

SESRIC delegation headed by H.E. Mrs. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of SESRIC, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Mr. Tahir BUDAGOV, the Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SSC) on 2 May 2023 at the Committee’s Headquarters in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.

H.E. Mr. BUDAGOV and the SSC team graciously extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to the SESRIC delegation, and H.E. Mrs. SELÇUK expressed her profound gratitude and appreciation for the generous hospitality.

During the visit, the Director General of SESRIC provided an overview of the Centre's partnership with the Azeri national institutions, in particular the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and highlighted the various joint initiatives undertaken over the years. Furthermore, H.E. Mrs. SELÇUK praised the Committee’s continuous support to activities of the Centre within the framework of SESRIC Statistical Capacity Building Programme (StatCaB) through sharing the Azeri experience with their counterparts in the OIC Member Countries.

She also discussed the expectations and prospects for strengthening cooperation in the future in line with the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SESRIC and State Statistical Committee in February 2021.

H.E. Mr. BUDAGOV appreciated the efforts put by SESRIC towards supporting the socio-economic development of the OIC Member Countries in various fields and areas, particularly the statistical capacity building programmes organised within the framework of SESRIC’s StatCaB. In addition, H.E. Mr. BUDAGOV highlighted the Committee’s willingness and readiness to take necessary actions towards the implementation of the 3-year plan of action of the signed MoU between SESRIC and SSC towards achieving the envisioned objectives.

To further strengthen cooperation, SESRIC's Director General proposed several measures, such as identifying specific areas where both parties can leverage their expertise and seek to mobilise financial and technical resources to conduct joint projects and activities, encouraging more active participation of SSC in SESRIC's activities and initiatives, and facilitating regular communication and dialogue between the two institutions.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and SESRIC to address key challenges and contribute to the socio-economic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the wider OIC community.
