SESRIC held its Fourth Technical Review Meeting on 25 May 2023 at SESRIC's headquarters in Ankara, Türkiye. This meeting dedicated to presenting and discussing the outcomes of the latest SESRIC research report, the OIC Environment Report 2023. The report will be published and submitted to the 9^th Conference of Environment Ministers in the Islamic World to be held this year in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Technical Review Meeting convened esteemed directors and experts from SESRIC's Statistics, Research, Training, and Publication Departments with the aim of enhancing the value and insights provided by the Centre's reports on environmental challenges faced by OIC countries. Dr. Fahman Fathurrahman, a researcher at the Economic and Social Research Department, delivered a detailed presentation during the meeting, sharing the key findings of the report.

In his presentation, Dr. Fahman emphasized the pivotal role of the environment in post-COVID recovery efforts. He underscored the need for integrating environmental considerations into policies and practices across all sectors to shape a sustainable and resilient future. Additionally, he presented a compelling assessment of the escalating impacts of climate change and stressed the urgency of taking action to mitigate and adapt to challenges such as rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and biodiversity loss. He also highlighted the significance of multilateral cooperation and collective action in tackling environmental issues. Leveraging their shared values and interests, the OIC member countries possess a distinctive role in fostering international cooperation, knowledge sharing, and capacity building for environmental sustainability.

The meeting concluded with an interactive discussion that allowed participants to share their comments and suggestions. Generally, the participants recommended aligning the narrative with global and OIC-level efforts, while improving the visual presentation of data and graphs. This meeting served as a valuable platform for SESRIC staff members to gain a comprehensive understanding of the methodology, structure, scope, and outcomes of the Centre's research reports. Furthermore, it encouraged a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing among participants by fostering open dialogue and inviting feedback and comments.
