Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC, in collaboration with the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), organised a Training Course on “Banking, Insurance and Financial Market Statistics” on 10-11 June 2024, in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.

The training course was provided by a competent expert from CBRT for the benefit of 17 participants from the State Statistical Committee (SSC) of Azerbaijan, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan.

The main objective of the training course was to enhance the technical capacities of the participants to understand and apply statistical methodologies and best practices in banking, insurance, and financial markets. Topics covered during the course included, among others:

• Overview of Banking Statistics
• Insurance Statistics
• Financial Market Statistics
• Regulatory Frameworks and Reporting Standards
• Risk Management and Financial Stability
• Case Studies and Best Practices

The StatCaB Programme was initiated in early 2007 as the flagship capacity development programme of SESRIC. Within the framework of the StatCaB Programme, the Centre collects information from the NSOs of OIC member countries through the biennial StatCaB Questionnaire, assesses their statistical training needs and capacities, matches these needs and capacities, and organises statistical capacity development activities between the beneficiary and provider countries.
