Webinar on ‘Vocational Education in Business and Industry’

Within the framework of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the Member Countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET) and in line with the OIC-TVET Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025, SESRIC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (MoECRT) of the Republic of Indonesia, organised a Webinar on “Vocational Education in Business and Industry”.

The webinar aimed to enhance comprehension of the OIC countries about the urge of upskilling-reskilling on digital skill for business and industry. The critical role of national technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems in answering to global digital transformation was discussed. The alignment processes, strategies as well as best practices of vocational education in supporting the sectors’ expansion, including challenges and opportunities entail were explored throughout the webinar.

The webinar featured presentations by experts from the Division of Alignment of Vocational Education with Business and Industry of the MoECRT of the Republic of Indonesia, UNESCO International Centre for TVET (UNESCO-UNEVOC), Digital Transformation Office (DTO) of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, and Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic (PENS). It was attended by 50 experts, executives and academics from TVET National Focal Points and relevant agencies/authorities and national institutions in 25 OIC countries.

The webinar covered the following topics:

  • Digital Skill Development;
  • Development of a Policy for the Digital Transformation of the TVET and Skills Development System: Approaches and Perspectives;
  • Best Practices on Alignment of Vocational Education; and
  • Vocational Training and Capacity Building Activities of the Digital Transformation Office (DTO) of Türkiye.
