Webinar on ‘Enhancing the Competitiveness of Halal Tourism in the OIC Member Countries’

In alignment with the resolutions of the 12th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers held in Khiva on 31 May - 2 June 2024 and within the framework of SESRIC’s Tourism Capacity Building Programme (Tourism-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), successfully organised a Webinar on “Enhancing the Competitiveness of Halal Tourism in the OIC Member Countries”.

The webinar brought together 59 experts from relevant national institutions tourism ministries and authorities from 20 OIC countries. The webinar aimed to bring together experts from national agencies to exchange ideas on the challenges in the Halal Tourism sector in the OIC countries and explore opportunities to enhance competitiveness in the sector.

The webinar featured presentations by experts from SESRIC, ICDT, Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) of Malaysia, and the Ministry of Tourism and Handcraft of the Republic of Senegal. The webinar also included fruitful discussions about enhancing the sector’s infrastructure and adopting unified standards of Halal Tourism among OIC countries.
