H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK met with H.E. Prof. Dato Dr. Koutoub MOUSTAPHA, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), at the IIFA Headquarters in Jeddah. This high-level meeting marked a significant step in fostering collaboration between SESRIC and IIFA.

During the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK extended an invitation to IIFA to contribute to and collaborate on SESRIC’s upcoming programs, emphasizing the alignment of mutual interests and the shared goal of advancing socio-economic development across OIC countries. She highlighted the potential between SESRIC’s data-driven insights and IIFA’s expertise in Islamic jurisprudence. This partnership can contribute to the broader objectives of the OIC in promoting sustainable development, educational advancement, and the integration of Islamic principles into development policies.

H.E. Prof. Dato Dr. Koutoub MOUSTAPHA expressed his enthusiasm for the proposed collaboration and underscored IIFA’s commitment to contributing to SESRIC’s initiatives. He acknowledged the importance of integrating Islamic perspectives into socio-economic development strategies, thereby ensuring that such strategies are culturally and ethically resonant with the values of the OIC countries.

The meeting concluded with both parties seeking to further explore specific areas of collaboration and to establish a framework for joint activities that can help address the challenges faced by OIC member countries, leveraging both empirical research and Islamic scholarship.

The International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) was established as a universal scholarly organization and a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Its members are eminent Muslim jurists, scholars, and intellectuals who specialize in jurisprudential, cultural, scientific and economic fields of knowledge from different parts of the Muslim world. They study contemporary life issues, performing an authentic and effective Ijtihad, aiming at providing solutions stemming from Islamic heritage and open to the developments of Islamic thought.
