Webinar on ‘Navigating Family Challenges: Strengthening Bonds and Building Resilience’

Within the framework of the Social Development Capacity Building Programme (SD-CaB), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye, organised a webinar on “Navigating Family Challenges: Strengthening Bonds and Building Resilience” on 12 December 2024.

The online event aimed to address the urgent need for effective strategies in OIC countries to strengthen family bonds and enhance resilience, which is essential for fostering supportive environments where families can navigate everyday challenges and promote positive interactions.

A total of 34 experts from family and social development institutions across 15 OIC countries benefitted from the activity, which focused on addressing the evolving challenges that families face in the context of post-industrial transformation, demographic shifts, and changing societal norms. Experts explored the importance of strong family communication, with an emphasis on active listening and other tools to overcome common barriers to effective communication. Additionally, the webinar highlighted the need for strong national family policies that both monitor and actively promote the well-being of families in OIC countries.

The webinar covered the following key topics:

  • A Policy Approach to Redefining Family Dynamics and Social Risks in Post-industrial Eastern Societies;
  • Enhancing Communication Skills of Family Members via Training and Counselling Services;
  • Communication and Conflict Resolution;
  • Holistic Approaches in Strengthening Family Institutions
