SESRIC Participated in the Seminar on 'Malaysia’s Financial Literacy and Financial Planning Experience'

SESRIC participated in the Seminar on “Malaysia’s Financial Literacy and Financial Planning Experience” held on 19-20 November 2024 in Istanbul, Türkiye. The Seminar was organized by the Finance Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye (CBFO), Participation Banks Association of Türkiye (TKBB), and the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC).

The event focused on Malaysia’s experiences with the strategies, policies and various services and initiatives in financial literacy and planning, particularly implemented by the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Institute (AKPK), a subsidiary of Bank Negara Malaysia. Additionally, it aimed to provide insights and expand opportunities for financial literacy and planning institutions in Türkiye in the field of participation finance.

The Seminar was attended by representatives of the financial sector, including supervisory and regulatory authorities as well as the private sector operating in Türkiye.

The Seminar commenced with opening remarks by Mr. Necip Fazıl KAYMAK, Vice President of the Finance Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye. This was followed by a welcoming speech from Ms. Fatma ÇINAR, Deputy Secretary General of the Participation Banks Association of Türkiye (TKBB), who highlighted the critical importance of collaboration and active engagement among financial institutions in fostering growth. The opening session concluded with remarks from Mr. Azaddin Ngah TASIR, Chief Executive Officer of AKPK, who elaborated on Malaysia's financial literacy strategies and their implementation.

The event featured presentations and speeches by representatives from AKPK and MFPC, along with engaging discussions that emphasized the significance of financial literacy and planning. SESRIC expressed its readiness to collaborate with the organizers to jointly conduct similar capacity-building programs and activities at the OIC level.
