Webinar on ‘Methodologies for Collecting, Analysing, and Disseminating Statistics on the Labour Market: Countries’ Experiences and Challenges’

Within the framework of the Public Employment Services Capacity Building Programme (PES-CaB) and in line with the OIC Public Employment Services Network (OIC-PESNET) Work Plan 2024-2026, SESRIC, in collaboration with the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC) of Kingdom of Morocco, organised a Webinar on “Methodologies for Collecting, Analysing, and Disseminating Statistics on the Labour Market: Countries’ Experiences and Challenges” on 18 December 2024. The webinar brought together 87 experts from Public Employment Institutions of 14 OIC African Member Countries.

The Webinar aimed to discuss best practices and challenges in collecting labour market data. The Webinar also delved into the various methodologies, tools, and techniques employed across different countries, including surveys, administrative records, and alternative data sources. Additionally, the webinar explored innovative approaches and technologies, such as big data and machine learning, to enhance the accuracy and timeliness of labour market statistics.

The Webinar hosted presentations by experts from the ANAPEC, the Guinean Agency for the Promotion of Employment (AGUIPE), and the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment of Niger (ANPE). Their presentations covered the following key topics:

  • Digitalization and automation of labour markets;
  • Operational data collection and analysis;
  • Digitalization of the employment system and;
  • Labour market monitoring.

SESRIC launched the OIC Public Employment Services Network (OIC-PESNET) in 2013 to establish an intra-OIC network for the systematic sharing of information and experience among public employment authorities of the OIC Member States to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the public employment services and improve the accessibility to these services in the OIC Member States. SESRIC also initiated the Public Employment Services Capacity Building Programme (PES-CaB) in line with the request of the Public Employment Services Network (OIC-PESNET) to improve public employment services in the OIC Member States.
