Training Course on 'Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Statistics' in Afghanistan

In accordance with its 2015 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the training course on 'Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Statistics' at the Central Statistics Organization (CSO) in Kabul, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on 23-25 February 2015. The course was conducted by Mr. Vedat Mert, Expert at the Turkish Statistics Institute (TURKSTAT), with the participation of 29 officials of the CSO, Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Afghan Academy of Science, and Faculty of Agriculture.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009); agriculture, forestry and fisheries statistics – a statistical subject area of the Sectoral Statistics activity category under the Economic Statistics domain – includes all agriculture, forestry and fishery related statistics, e.g. agricultural monetary statistics (agricultural economic accounts), agricultural structures (farm structure), trade in agricultural products, agricultural labour input, crop and animal production, agricultural commodities, agro-industry statistics (including food production and safety), organic farming and organic food, government expenditure for agriculture, fishing and forestry, products source and use tables, forest and forest product statistics, forest resource assessment and forest fire, trade in forest products, fisheries.

The training course on 'Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Statistics' included practical case studies and focus on the following topics:

    • Economic Accounts

  • Forestry Statistics
