The 2^nd International Halal Tourism Conference was organised on 3-5 May 2016 in Dedeman Convention Centre, Konya, Turkey.

H.E. Mr. Mahir Unal, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey officially opened the conference in the presence of a number of high profile guests from across the globe including Dr. Bandar Fahad al Fehaid, Head of Arab Tourism Organization, Mr. Irfan Onal, Director General of Ministry of Tourism of Turkey, Mr. Tahir Akyurek, Mayor of Konya and Mr. Muammer Erol, Governor of Konya.

Ambassador Musa Kulaklıkaya was the head of SESRIC delegation in this event where some other delegates from Tourism Ministries, OIC Organisations, tourism boards, travel agencies, tour operators, hotels and airlines from over 30 countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Croatia, Singapore, UK, USA, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Africa, Kuwait and Qatar have participated.

The first two days was dedicated to the keynote speeches, panel discussions and workshops focused on development of the halal tourism, its dimensions, opportunities and challenges. Alongside the conference, there was a three-day exhibition featuring some businesses from across the world.

During this conference, SESRIC made a presentation with the subject of “Islamic Tourism in the OIC Member Countries, Prospects and Challenges” where a summary of SESRIC researches and activities in the domain of Halal Tourism was presented.
