Upon the invitation extended by the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine, a SESRIC delegation headed by Director General H.E. Mr. Nebil Dabur has paid an official visit to Palestine on 08-09 July 2019.

The Visit aimed at exploring ways and means of effective and sustainable cooperation mechanism between SESRIC and various Palestinian national institutions based on a close and well-understanding of the needs and capacities of these institutions.

The two-day study visit started with SESRIC delegation’s official visit to PICA, where they were welcomed by the Director General Amb. Imad Zuhairi, who briefed them on the mandates and the activities of the Agency. The purpose of the visit was to enhance the existing technical cooperation between the two institutions which had started by signing a Memorandum of Understanding in January 2018.

During the visit to PICA, a roundtable meeting has been conducted with the participation of representatives from various relevant Palestinian national institutions at PICA office where H.E. Mr. Dabur delivered a presentation on the initiatives, programmes and activities undertaken by the Centre in its three mandated areas of statistics, research and training. During the deliberations, the participants exchanged views and ideas on how to enhance the collaboration and cooperation mechanism between SESRIC and these institutions.

The SESRIC delegation also held a bilateral meeting at the OIC Representative Office in Ramallah with H. E. Amb. Ahmad Al-Ruwaidi, Head of the OIC Representative Office in Palestine, and other officials.

During the visit, H.E. Mr. Nebil Dabur, was received by the President of the State of Palestine, H.E. Mr. Mahmud Abbas. They discussed various issues and expressed the hope that the visit will contribute to strengthening ties between SESRIC and relevant Palestinian institutions.

In addition, SESRIC delegation held a meeting at the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), where H.E. Mr. Dabur met with H.E. Dr. Ola Awad, President of PCBS. They had a roundtable meeting with the Board of Directors of PCBS, where they discussed several issues of mutual interest and ways to strengthen the existing cooperation between the two institutions. Upon the invitation extended to him by the President of Birzeit University, Dr Abdullatif Abu Hijleh, H.E. Mr. Nebil Dabur also visited University of Birzeit University where he has been briefed on the various programmes and activities of the University.

The Delegation of SESRIC concluded the official working visit to Palestine with a meeting held with the Governor of Al-Quds, H.E. Mr. Adnan Gaith, and a group of active Palestinian NGOs working in the city of Al-Quds.
